Democrats’ Patriotism Goes Down With Trump In The White House

Silly liberals may never understand.

According to a new study from Gallup, Democrats aren’t feeling very patriotic with President Donald Trump in the White House.

The latest poll from Gallup shows that the number of Democrats proud to be American is down 11 points from the same time last year, to a new low of 67 percent. Since the start of the survey back in January 2001, liberals have never been so reluctant to show their patriotism.

The second lowest was back in 2007, with 74 percent saying they were proud of being American. George W. Bush was in the White House then and his approval rating was around 36 percent as he had just authorized an increase in troops to Iraq, in a bid to improve the United States’ position in a war that showed no signs of ending.

“The decline in Democratic pride this year most likely stems from Democrats’ negative feelings about President Donald Trump,” Gallup’s report says. Furthermore, the report notes that currently, less than 10 percent of Democrats approve of Trump’s actions.

However, patriotism has been almost the same for Republicans regardless of the man in charge of the most prestigious office in the world. The survey shows that currently, an overwhelming 92 percent of Republicans call themselves “extremely” or “very” proud to be American. This number has gone up three points from last year, when 89 percent felt proud to call themselves American.

Gallup notes that the current 25-point gap in patriotic sentiment between Republicans and Democrats is the highest they have recorded.

“Historically, Democrats’ patriotism appears to have been susceptible to considerations such as which party occupies the White House and how the U.S. is faring internationally, while Republicans’ patriotism has been more consistent over time,” Gallup reports.

The highest percentage of national pride recorded by Gallup came after the 9/11 terrorist attacks. 9 out of 10 Americans said they were proud of their country at that time.

“For U.S. pride to bounce back to where it has been in the past,” the report concluded, “renewed feelings of patriotism among Democrats will be necessary.”

Democrats fail to realize that you can fear and even hate your government, but still love your country. A nation represents its people, not its politicians.
