In 2006 on of Kaine’s first actions as governor was to micromanage the free market by banning smoking in restaurants and bars. The measures were met with frustration and anger from small businesses that were made to implement costly measures to meet standards, including installing separate ventilation systems if they wished to allow patrons to smoke in their establishments. While some may argue that disallowing smoking inside made for more comfort for other guests, it is just the kind of federal overreach that Hillary will be itching to do should she be sworn in. She did say in her nomination acceptance speech that she cares about details. Kaine has shown that he too is willing to micromanage.
