gun show

Federal law enforcement is working with local law enforcement to monitor gun show attendees with controversial techniques.

In 2010 the Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency devised a plan to record license-plate numbers of everyone at the gun shows in Southern California.

The license plates were recorded with special devices that can read and record all numbers of passing cars.

The agents then took the information collected at the gun show and looked for those cars crossing the southern border into Mexico.

Other than criminals, privacy advocates are furious at the new tactics.

Collecting information on all the people attending a gun show could be useful to law enforcement.

Stopping guns from crossing the border isn’t a bad thing, but government generally takes good programs and corrupts them.

Imagine a list of gun owners in the hands of the people that want to get rid of guns. If you start with a list of your enemies then you most likely have the advantage.

Looking at this from another angle, why are the police monitoring citizens in order to stop guns from going into Mexico? Shouldn’t they be worried about the guns coming into America?

So it comes down to this question…

gun control

Two years ago I wrote about an idiot politician publicly making a fool of himself at his own scripted press conference. The politician was California State Sen. Kevin de León, and his topic was “Ghost Guns.” The press conference was to publicize de León’s latest gun control bill, a proposal to require anyone making a gun in his or her garage to register it with the state Department of Justice and engrave a DOJ-supplied serial number on the gun. His primary justification for this proposal was that a mentally disturbed young man who had been denied purchase of a firearm had subsequently manufactured a firearm from purchased parts and fabricated components, and used that homemade gun to murder several people before committing suicide.

As disturbing and compelling as that story might be, de León’s “solution” was absolutely laughable. Could he possibly believe that his law would have prevented this tragedy? Is it remotely conceivable that this disturbed young man, having been turned down for a firearm purchase at a dealer based on his mental history, would have then requested permission from the DOJ to construct a gun from parts in his bedroom?

As idiotic as that idea is, de León’s manic performance at the press conference overshadowed any obvious flaws in his reasoning. Along with repeated mispronunciations and misapplication of words, de León consistently conflated “detectability” with “traceability” as he tried to demonize both homemade 3D-printed guns and homemade guns manufactured with more traditional machining methods. But the money shot came when de León explained the awesome firepower of one of his prop “Ghost Guns.” Holding up one of the guns, de León declared;

“This is a ghost gun. This right here has the ability, with a .30 caliber clip, to disperse with 30 bullets within half a second.” He then reiterated, to drive home the point, “Thirty magazine clip in half a second.”

The reason I bring up this 2-year-old news conference now is that Sen. de León, this stellar example of a politician whose only apparent noteworthy skill is that of being elected, is now, along with being one of the most rabid – if poorly informed – proponents of radical gun control, the president pro tempore of the Senate, the highest ranking and most powerful role in the California Legislature.

This is as irrational and inexplicable as the elevation of “Groping Joe” Biden to the office of vice president. At least Biden serves the security function of being a deterrent to anyone considering assassination of the president. Sen. de León doesn’t even have that going for him. What he does have is good looks and impeccable Spanish. He’s probably also really good at remembering names and asking for money, and he is an extreme radical on a variety of political topics. An avowed “liberal progressive” and Hillary Clinton supporter, de León is a champion of massive restrictions on carbon emissions, a tireless advocate for citizenship rights and benefits for immigrants illegally in the country, and a supporter of the environmental policies that mandated diverting millions of metric tons of water from reservoirs and farmers in favor of an ineffective effort to improve habitat for a subspecies of smelt, resulting in the current severe water shortage. He is also a vocal advocate of additional restrictions on tobacco smokers, additional rights for marijuana smokers and a strong proponent of raising the minimum wage to at least $15 an hour. That the people of California and their elected representatives would, during a time of economic struggle and budget challenges, when the state is effectively beyond broke, select such a radical destroyer to lead their Senate is beyond comprehension.

In May, de León helped to push through yet another round of gun control tightening in the state, on top of some of the strictest gun laws in the nation. Included in the package is a blanket ban on possession of any magazine capable of holding over 10 rounds. Unlike the current law, which forbids the sale of such magazines, this law criminalizes possession, requiring that all existing magazines of greater than 10-round capacity be sold, destroyed, or surrendered without compensation.

Tell me again that confiscation is not the eventual objective of gun control.

Another bill in the package passed by the Senate requires a background check and record-keeping for ammunition purchases. This is probably the most sinister in the group because it not only adds complication and expense to a protected constitutional right, but by retaining records of ammunition purchases it creates a de facto gun owner registration system. You can be sure that de León and his ilk would use this information to further harass gun owners.

The rest of the package includes de León’s “Ghost Gun” registration bill, a bill banning so-called “bullet button” magazine systems – effectively outlawing numerous currently legal rifles – a bill that makes the victim of a firearm theft a criminal if they fail to report the theft in what some bureaucrat considers a timely manner, a bill that makes simply loaning a gun to a friend or even a family member in most cases, a criminal offense, a technical correction that moves theft of a firearm back up to felony status, and a bill creating a Firearm Violence Research Center at the University of California.

The whole package is designed to compete with an even worse ballot initiative Lt. Gov. (and gubernatorial candidate) Gavin Newsom is championing. The gun control package is now in the hands of the State Assembly where even more gun control legislation is already pending.

We should probably be grateful to California’s gun control zealots for proving that control freaks are never satisfied. No matter how many laws they pass, they will always come back for more. We in the rest of the country need to recognize the warning and understand that gun control is back on the front burner as a political issue. We must mobilize to shut this nonsense down.

bikini burglar

If you live in the Santa Clariata Valley area of Los Angeles California you need to watch out. There is a criminal on the loose.

A woman has stolen valuables from several houses has been seen on surveillance video to only be wearing a bikini.

The woman who looks to be in her 30’s broke into three houses and stole some valuables and walked out.

Crimes happen all the time, but not many criminals are wearing a bikini when they break in. This woman was.

There is no word on how the woman made off with the goods, since she obviously didn’t have any pockets to stash them in.

The footage shows her pulling out in a tan sedan, but that is hard to spot.

If you see a woman with a bikini who has a yellow bottom and a green top, robbing a home and stuffing jewelry in her bathing suit, call the police.

The police don’t think she is dangerous, although she was baring her arms.

Please be careful out there, it is a dangerous world.

In a recent ruling by the Obama Administration, churches in California are being forced to pay for abortions through the Affordable Care Act.

Abortions are covered in Obamacare under “basic health services”, but the Obama Administration has ordered all insurance companies to pay for surgical abortions.

No church in California is safe.

In October 2015, a number of churches joined in a lawsuit against the ruling that has been moving though the courts.

The Department of Health and Human Services was investigating the matter and found that there was no violation, so they are closing the investigation. They will not look into this matter any further.

What does that mean? It means that the Obama administration is mandating churches to pay for abortions even though it is against their religious beliefs.

Pro-life leaders in congress are speaking out. Rep. Chris Smith, who is also the co-chair of the Bipartisan Congressional Pro-Life Caucus, had this to say after the ruling:

“Nearly two years after California imposed its draconian mandate that requires all insurance companies to pay for abortion the Obama Administration has reached a new low. This means that Californians, including churches, will continue to be forced to pay for elective abortions in their insurance plans.

Congress must not let this discrimination stand. We must take this issue out of the hands of the Obama Administration by moving enforcement of current conscience protections to the courts. Congress needs to enact legislation so churches and other victims have a “private right of action” so they can have their day in court.”

Currently a couple of large churches have joined together to ask the courts permission to sue the state of California.

This is far from over.

Right now, Obama is making Christian churches pay for abortions through tax dollars and it isn’t right. Stay tuned to Liberty News Now for more updates as this story develops.

What do you think? Should churches be forced to pay for abortions? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.

Today is the day. Despite the reports yesterday that Hillary has clinched the nomination of the Democratic Party, the announcement was premature.

She has enough delegates if you count all the super delegates, but she doesn’t have enough to win the nomination outright… yet.

Today could be the day that she really clinches the nomination with a big primary win in California. Bernie though could pull off a miraculous upset and win California.

Even if Bernie wins California, he will still be down in the delegate count and the big question will be, “what will Bernie do next”? Will he pull out of the race and support Hillary?

Will Bernie keep fighting all the way to the convention and divide the Democratic Party and roll out the red carpet for Trump?

If Bernie loses California today there is a great possibility that he will suspend his campaign only to return if Hillary goes to prison. (Which is a possibility.)

If Bernie wins though, there could be a big battle leading into the convention in August. Even if Bernie does not have enough delegates to win, he and his socialist policies will be front and center during the convention.

The challenge for the Democratic Party is to figure out a way to not completely disenfranchise his avid supporters and bring them into the fold somehow.

The longer this drags on, there is more and more of a reality that Bernie could end up the running mate of Hillary. If nothing else, it she may select him just to appease his supporters.

Regardless of what we speculate what will happen, it all comes down to California for Bernie Sanders. He needs to make his final stand and he is looking like he is in good shape.

Sanders has campaigned ferociously in the state for a couple of weeks and was down as much as 13% in the polls during the winter and is now leading the former secretary in some polls.

This is his last stand and he is giving it his all, but will it be enough? Let us know in the comments below.

Email Scandal

The man who set up the private server for Hillary Clinton has had immunity by the Department of Justice for some time and has been working with the DOJ and FBI to answer their questions about Hillary’s email server.

In Court this week, Brian Pagliano was ordered to give a deposition in a Freedom of Information Act lawsuit by Judicial Watch. Brian will talk to the DOJ and the FBI because he has immunity with them, but he won’t talk under oath.

Pagliano pleaded the fifth.

His refusal to answer questions comes after Cheryl Mills, former lawyer to Bill Clinton and Hillary’s Chief of Staff at the State Department, decided to not answer or said she didn’t remember to over 150 questions asked by Judicial Watch.

What does this all mean?

Nobody is talking. There is complete silence around the email server because Hillary’s campaign depends on it.

The pressure is on the FBI to indict Hillary after a State Department report proved that she broke the law with her handling of her private email server.

Even though nobody is talking, it is making her look more and more guilty and her numbers are sliding. She is in a statistical tie with Bernie Sanders in California and losing to Trump nationally now for the first time.

The odds of her being charged with a crime is still about 50/50. There is pressure coming to indict the former secretary of state, but there is a lot of pressure coming from the Obama Administration also to not indict.

An indictment would look really bad for the Democratic Party and hit will really hurt their chances to stay in power come this fall. It also doesn’t help that Obama appointed the directors at both the DOJ and the FBI. We can only hope that their loyalty lies with the truth and punishing criminals rather than being with Obama and the Democratic Party.

Do you think she will be indicted? Let us know in the comments below.

Ted Cruz took a book out of the Donald Trump playbook and had a major news announcement on the day after Trump won 105 out of 111 delegates on Tuesday.

Cruz announced that former presidential candidate Carly Fiorina as his new running mate.

A lot of people are asking why is he picking a running mate the day after he was mathematically eliminated from being able to get enough delegates before the convention.

It is a good question, but what does Ted have to lose? Nothing. His only chance to stop Trump is to pull away enough votes in California and Indiana to keep Trump from gaining the needed 1237 delegates.

If Cruz can do that, then he has a chance at becoming the nominee with the backing of the Republican establishment.

On the other hand it is a long shot. Trump proved his staying power on Tuesday and Cruz even slipped to 3rd place in all but one of the contests. Cruz has been losing ground and he went with the last trick up his sleeve.

Now that he has named Carly, there are not going to be any more surprises. He has nothing left to reveal. This may help him stop Trump, possibly, but it will hurt him and the Republicans chances in the fall.

The move was a desperate one that might pay off and stop Trump, but what is next? If he does become the nominee with Carly, he will lose out on the news cycle when Hillary announces her VP.

He played his cards too early, but what choice did he have? Donald has done all but lock up the nomination. He has eliminated 16 other GOP candidates from having a chance to get enough delegates and has received more votes to this point than Romney did in all of 2012.

Trump is going to be tough to beat, but this move might be the only thing he could have done at this point.

Carly is not only a woman, which shows diversity and can play against Hillary, but she is a businessperson. Carly is the first ever woman CEO of a top 20 business and is one tough cookie.

She is a good pick. Carly is a much better pick than a Rubio or Bush. She will be able to help out California, but is it too much too late?

Gender-Neutral Bathroom

Well it was bound to happen. When you have people demonized for having different beliefs and when the youth is brainwashed to think thier way is always right, things like this happen.

The fight broke out in California at the Santee Education Complex in Los Angeles.

Last week the complex added a new sign to launch the new bathroom policy to include transgenders. The move was praised in the local media.

Some were not so happy that the changes were taking place. Protestors came and things started heating up. Then you saw the outcome in the video. Today, the students at the school are standing in a peaceful protest against the fight that it looks like they started.

We hope these images don’t become a staple in our culture, but I fear we are seeing just the beginning of these types of videos.

gay asian

Sometimes the left is so sensitive, it hurts its own feelings. The Sacramento California LGBT Community Center had to issue an apology last week for that very thing. It seemed that their annual Red Dress fundraiser for the community center and HIV prevention went “too far” in “appropriating East Asian culture.”

The group that is upset is not even predominantly East Asian. In fact the APIQSC actually stands for Asian Pacific Islander Queer Sacramento Coalition. As pretentious as it sounds, it isn’t a made up group. A member, Richard Carriollo, that attended the Community Center’s party had this to say:

“There were Japanese fans, there were Japanese umbrellas, Japanese cranes mixed in with the Chinese dragon theme, Chinese lanterns, and it kind of made it unclear which culture they were referring to”

The October 17th event deeply offended the guests from APIQSC. But you have to wonder if they didn’t come in looking for something to be offended about. Overall they claim that the party which “appropriated” very little culture that applied to them specifically, was the cause of “deep pain and alienation”.

The Community Center apologized for the made-up crime.

The “Red Dragon” theme was on trial for “homogenizing Asian culture” and “perpetuating Western stereotypes”. The group also said the did not feel that the decorations were tasteful and that they did not convey the beauty of the culture.

And so it was that the Left gave itself a culturally insensitive black eye. Next year, people should come dressed as unisexual beings and all the decorations will be grey. But, I’m sure that there would be complaints about that too.

San Francisco has just announced another victory for the transgender community: you’ll be able to pick whether you go to a male or female jail by the end of the year.

Currently, transgender inmates in San Francisco are housed in isolation in the city’s downtown jail. But, by the end of the year, the San Francisco Sheriff, Ross Mirkarimi, hopes to house them in the general population–with whatever gender they “identify” with.

The reason? Nebulous claims of “social justice” for transgender Americans.

“I carry the perspective forward that the transgender population is marginalized on the streets of America,” Mirkarimi explained. “Consider how magnified that treatment is inside prisons and jails.”

Transgender inmates allegedly won’t just be able to declare a gender–they’ll be subjected a review process, to determine whether they’re actually transgender. But San Francisco offers no objective reasoning for how they’ll determine that, and it’s not clear that the so-called review will be anything more than a politically-correct rubber stamp.

Most surprisingly, it would allow a man or a woman who have not not yet had gender reassignment surgery to go in the prison of their choosing–a transgender inmate still built as their birth gender could wind up in a prison with their self-identified gender.

“It’s not going to be based on genitalia alone,” Mirkarimi clarified.

This kind of policy would be the first in the country–including other prisons in California. California has a liberal policy on transgender immigrants, including paying for their reassignment surgery, but doesn’t allow pre-operation transgenders into the regular population. San Francisco’s new policy will change that.

Currently, just 6 prisoners, out of San Francisco’s 1,257 inmates, are transgender.
