Fraternity

by -

Having a fraternity house right outside your window can be a bad thing. Ask Seth Rogan’s character in the movie “Neighbors”. They can be up all night, they can be boisterous…and they can be true gentlemen.

To Lexi, a 12-year-old little girl with cancer inside the UCLA medical center, they are more than gentlemen; the men of Sigma Alpha Epsilon are heroes.

Lexi’s hospital room overlooks fraternity row at UCLA and one day while staring out the window, Lexi and her mom put a sign in the window asking for pizza. What little girl doesn’t want pizza while in the hospital?

They put the sign in the window as a joke, but what happened next will make you smile. “Five guys come in, and they had a guitar and a dozen roses and a box of pizza,” Lexi’s mother told NBC during an interview.

“They introduced themselves and said, ‘We saw your sign; we’re here.’ They stayed for a half an hour, they sang this song and I started bawling my head off. I’m like, ‘I can’t believe these people are here for my child.’ ”

The support didn’t stop with one visit. They became friends. One of the SAE brothers is on the UCLA soccer team and rallied his teammates to visit the little girl.

The fraternity brothers wanted Lexi to get in the Christmas spirit too. They decorated their fraternity house with thousands of lights and at the top, in bright white letters, is “LEXI”– perfectly placed so their new friend can know they care.
