Jeremiah Wright, Obama’s crazy former pastor who nearly sank the President’s first campaign in 2008, is back–and what he’s saying about Jesus has many Christians outraged.
During the Million Man March in Washington, D.C., over the weekend, Wright declared that “Jesus was a Palestinian,” and slammed Israel.
Wright compared the Black Lives Matter movement to the fight against Israel:
“The same issue is being fought today and has been fought since 1948, and historians are carried back to the 19th century… when the original people, the Palestinians — and please remember, Jesus was a Palestinian — the Palestinian people had the Europeans come and take their country.”
Wright isn’t the first to say that Jesus was a Palestinian–Palestinian president Mahmoud Abbas also has made the controversial statement–but it’s certainly a strange belief for a so-called Christian.
Wright, calling Israel an “apartheid state,” further urged his supporters to stand strong against the Jewish republic.
“And what Dr. King said, injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere, has implications for us as we stand beside our Palestinian brothers and sisters, who have been done one of the most egregious injustices in the 20th and 21st centuries.”
Wright first attracted attention in 2008, when he was quoted giving fiery sermons, including one where he repeatedly said, “God damn America.” He was long-described as Barack Obama’s spiritual mentor.
After Wright’s controversial statements came to light, the Obamas distanced themselves from him, and no longer attend his church.
